Eco Friendly Packaging

Eco Friendly Packaging

An estimated 65 billion parcels were sent in 2016 with a majority of those being plastic. These parcels pose just as much of a problem as a single-use plastic bag, and yet they go largely ignored. Well, at least not by us. While we've always used a more eco-friendly option when it comes to parcels (recycled or made from paper), as of early last year we've been hand-packing and kissing our swimsuits goodbye in compostable satchels made from 100% biodegradable and compostable materials.

Ethical Swimwear Australia eco friendly packagingOur compostable satchels from Better Packaging Co.

These materials include corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). PLA (Polylactide) is a bio-based, biodegradable material made from renewable plant material (starches such as corn husks, rice straw and wheat straw).

And the best part.. it can be composted at home! The parcel can join your food scraps, garden waste or other organic matter to decompose in your very own backyard (or compost bin)! Packaging doesn't stop at parcels, however. Our swing tags are made from recycled paper, our swing tag string is deadstock yarn, and all of our swimsuits are carefully placed into home compostable (and plastic free) poly bags. Our swimsuit drawstring bags (which are available for purchase soon - and perfect to keep all your Wrapsuit pieces together) are also made from one of the most environmentally friendly fibres - Hemp. Our hygiene stickers are made from recycled paper. Last but not least, we purchase carbon offsets to make both our international and domestic delivery carbon neutral.
