We caught up with our favourite creative, Brooke from Brooke Art Studio to see how her European travels are treating her. Here's a little excerpt from her travel journal while in Portugal x
Portuguese beaches in the summer time are composed of pastel skies, cool blue seas & brown bodies puzzled across golden sand. It’s a nostalgic & relaxed season for all. The days are long & hot, the Portuguese porto flows freely & baked olive dreamers (Europeans on holiday) melt away their worries in the sunshine. It really is a beautiful place to be!

Portugal, the oldest offical country in Europe, with World Heritage listed wine regions, 800 km of coastline & surf all year round it’s a popular destination, with a little bit of something for every type of person. This year I was lucky to escape the Aussie winter, road tripping around Portugal with a couple of girlfriends & my fav BAIIA wrap suit. Flying into Porto, we tripped down the west coast, through Libson & eventually made it to the 16th century sunshine city of Lagos (Lag-oosh). We did all of our favourite things: - pizza at midnight, gelato for lunch, beach walks, bohemian markets, city strolls, millions of pictures, lots of late nights & even later mornings. I would say we were living the traveller dream, but it seemed like this way of living wasn’t exclusive to tourists - it felt like the locals normal way of life. People were friendly & care-free, the food was delish & we were loving it!
My girlfriends & I took a day trip out to Sagres, just a short drive from Lagos. I loved seeing bodies of all shapes, sizes & ages collaged across Portugal's sandy shores. Sometimes I get a little intimidated being in my swimwear on the beach - but not here, not today, on the coast of Sagres - with my Tanami BAIIA.
Like most people somedays I feel like I'm brimming with confidence & self-love other days not so much. I always feel more confident with my girlfriends, especially when they share heartfelt compliments, that's always a good little confidence booster! I hope the carefree confidence I felt on that day comes across, getting photos in my swimwear was something I used to be pretty uncomfortable doing, but I felt really empowered & beautiful on the beach that day. These pictures symbolise a lot of personal growth for me, so I'm a excited that I feel I can share them with you!
Later that afternoon, after watching all the holiday hearts splash about in the blue seas, I realised that everyone had surrendered to the days summer bliss. Such a simple thing to to do, yet such a beautiful experience to be apart of -- strangers being present & enjoying the moment we were all experiencing.
