Fabric

This swim short has two sides: one is made of Polyester, and the other is made of Nylon. Both of which are Italian-made and recycled. The Nylon side is matte and more flexible than the Polyester side. Bikinis featuring both our signature polyester and nylon fabrics are more flexible than those with only Polyester.

Our signature Italian swimwear fabrics are made using regenerated polyester thread from pre and post-consumer waste. As this piece features shape-controlling properties and high technical performance, please expect it to feel firmer than regular swimwear.

No front rise seam for ultimate comfort and a flattering fit. Flatlock seams featured around thighs.

Not exactly! While our suits are true to Australian standard sizing, it’s common for women to size down in Baiia suits. The reason for this is because we most commonly recommend sizes based on measurements rather than dress sizes, so many women find their best fit in a different size to what they typically wear in clothing. 

If two or more of your measurements fit within one size, we tend to recommend that one for the perfect fit. If your measurements span three or more sizes, we tend to recommend taking the one in the middle. If you feel you have a particularly short or long torso, you may find a better fit in one size down or up. Our fabrics are resistant to suncream and oils, but we still recommend taking care when wearing sunscreen and/or makeup, as well as taking care to remove marks as soon as possible to prevent staining.

A common ingredient in sunscreen known as avobenzone can contribute to stains, so you may wish to use sunscreens without this component.

The major difference between the two styles is how many pieces they're composed of.

​The 3-piece Wrapsuit consists of 1 chest piece, 1 body piece and 1 detachable tie; all together they complete a full swimsuit, which you can then reverse, and mix & match with other Wrapsuits to create multiple unique looks. ​

​The 4-piece Bikini consists of the Bikini top made of 2 chest pieces and 1 detachable tie, and the ultra-high waisted Bikini Bottom  - equalling 4 pieces when purchased all together! The Bikini can be worn like a classic Bikini style or made to look like a Wrapsuit, as well as mix & matched with other Bikinis.

"These bottoms are so fantastic. I LOVE how they really suck everything in without creating bulges and bulk at the edges. They are truly so flattering. The first few times I have worn them, they have been VERY tight to get on, however, after a few wears and swims in them, they are fitting me like a glove! Easier to get on and off and hugging me in all the right places. I am 5'7" and 145lbs for reference and the size 6 US is the perfect size for me on the bottoms. ADORE this print so much!"

Unfortunately my usual size ran too small (couldn’t get the pants over my thigh to try on) and the top’s arm holes were so small they dug into shoulders. Q&A

Behind the Design

It was 2016, I had just stepped into womanhood, and with that, was accepting the new shape my body was taking. I was looking for a swimsuit that actually made me look like the woman I knew I was, but was also becoming. Something that accentuated my shape, held me the way I now needed to be held, moved with my body across every season of my life, and came from a place of care for the environment around me. I couldn’t find it. So I decided to make it myself.

I became hooked on creating the dream swimsuit, pieces that didn’t ask you to mould yourself into them, but instead moulded themselves around you. Reversible designs that give you more, unique sizing that honours your shape instead of boxing it, cuts that work whether you’re 29 or 79, pre-baby or post-everything.

Before I knew it, I found myself surrounded by an incredible community of women from everywhere, every size, every stage. They weren’t looking for the “latest trend” or an Instagram moment in a bikini. They just needed swimwear that actually worked:

  • Pieces that held them, supported them, made them feel like themselves
    Reversible cuts that gave them options, not limitations
  • Sizing that didn’t make them feel like they had to change to fit the mould
    Designs that moved through their seasons with them, not against them

That’s what Baiia is built on, women supporting women, and the belief that feeling good in a swimsuit shouldn’t require you to change yourself. That’s the swimsuit’s job.

I’m not here to make aspirational pieces for photoshoots. I’m here to make timeless designs that make you feel held, supported, celebrated, exactly as you are, even on the days you don’t feel like it. Because you deserve swimwear that loves you back.
